What does it mean to walk by faith and not by sight?
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV)
In 2 Corinthians 5:7, the apostle Paul writes that we walk by faith, not by sight. This statement extends to every area of the Christian life.
Walking by Sight vs. Walking by Faith
Walking by sight means making decisions based only on what we can see, measure, and control. Walking by faith means trusting God's character, promises, and Word even when our circumstances seem to contradict them. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. The heroes of faith listed in Hebrews 11 — Abraham, Moses, Rahab — all took action based on God's promises rather than visible evidence. Abraham left his homeland without knowing where he was going. What Walking by Faith Looks Like
Trusting God's plan when life does not make sense. Obeying God's commands even when the outcome is uncertain. Resting in God's sovereignty when fear and doubt press in. Making decisions based on biblical principles rather than popular opinion or personal comfort."Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." — Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)Walking by faith is a daily choice. It requires cultivating a relationship with God through prayer and Scripture so that when the difficult moments come, our foundation is not shaken.
